Psychedelic Furs is one of my all time favorite bands. I love their 1982 hit (yes I’m an 80′s punk girl!), “Love My Way.” The killer lyric is “You can never win or lose, if you don’t run the race.” Aint that the truth!
What the song doesn’t say is you will always win when run the race no matter where you finish. Because you will learn something, gain experience, meet AMAZING people, and basically have an adventure you otherwise would not have had. Writing my movie, and launching my t-shirt line has done all of this for me and more. So get in the race and run it with Peace, Love and Joy!

What “life races” have you entered in lately?

You may be thinking “what?!” If we want to have things different in our life or achieve a big goal we must make changes and do things differently. Tom Hanks comes to mind in “Castaway” when he lit his first fire and he was elated, kind of like a cave man saying “fire good.” We need to think of change like that, because our lovely subconscious or paradigm thinks “change bad.” Our subconscious doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong, positive and negative, it just recognizes different and will fight you. You must fight back with “Change Good!” Eventually the subconscious will give in and adapt and you’re on your way to whatever you desire.

Now I know I’m going back a ways but, I loved David Seidler’s speech at the Academy Awards 2011. He wrote the screenplay for “The King’s Speech.” Mr Seidler started by saying “My father said I was going to be a late bloomer.” So here is a wonderful man in the twilight of his life, with the hugest smile on his face winning the Academy Award.

It was such a beautiful reminder that there are no expiration dates on our passions – our dreams. Our subconscious likes to feed us those lies or rationalizations. “I can’t do that now, that’s was a pipe dream, I’m too old, too fat, too tired!” I don’t care what you or your subconscious comes up with, it’s rubbish. Just go for it.

By giving your passions time and attention you will experience amazing things. Just take one tiny step, one tiny step! You’ll begin a journey that will blow you mind. I call it LIVING.

The point is no one is perfect!  In fact your idea of perfect is probably very different from anyone else’s.  Which just shows that this notion of  “I’m not ready because…” is a lie – another tactic of the subconscious or conditioned self thinking it’s keeping you safe.  Well what it’s really doing it keep you stuck! I don’t know about you, but I hate being stuck.  Been there done that, won’t go there again.

Yesterday I made a took a small step(well maybe not so small).   I called the offices of my all time favorite screen writer James L. Brooks.  He know him he’s the guy (genius) that wrote Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News (fav), As Good as it Gets to name a few.  I’m not going to lie I was more than a little nervous calling – this is James Brooks – why not start at the top!  You see I’m planning a trip to the LA area soon and I thought hey I’d like to meet with Mr. Brooks – pick his brain, etc. – there’s gotta be a price on that, and frankly I’m willing to pay it!  Well according to his assistant there is not.  And you know that’s okay.  I’m psyched he’s still working so much, that’s more of his work we’ll all get to enjoy.   I know I have an awesome project that needs to be seen and will be loved.  My amazing mentor (Shelley Riutta)  mentioned this am that “The energy you expend and the risk you take always comes back to you.”  It may not be in the exact way you initially intended, but it will bring progress.   And as Anthony Robbins says “any amount of progress is gold.”  

Believe in yourself and take action.  You’ll be amazed by what happens!

"The Motley Crew"

This past weekend I had the pleasure of speaking at a wonderful women’s retreat called “Relaxing by the Sea – Finding the Quiet Within.”  I was surrounded by the most amazing, giving women – yoga and Rosen Movement instructors, holistic healers, intuitives, energy & social workers, teachers, massage therapists, pychotherapists, a chiropractor, business consultants, a Super Nanny, an artist and even a Naval officer!  It’s so comforting to know that these women are out in the world doing their thing, which blesses the world. 

This was put together by the amazing Vicki Perron(vperr@yahoo.com), who created the retreat.  She is a master at organizing, details and networking.  It’s awesome to see her in action.  To the right is a picture of us on the beach of the majestic Lake Superior just before we had a scrumptious dinner in a log cabin.  The weather was beautiful, and we were treated to a stunning sunset. 

I highly recommend attending next years retreat in Ontonagon, Michigan.  You won’t regret it.  I think I’ve made some new dear friends.   That’s the best gift of all!

I started out just doing regular poses, then I heard the studio music and you know me I can’t stand still when there is good music playing. I HAD to start dancing – I had to be me. I was so happy and grateful to the awesome people at 44 and so happy to be wearing my shirts that I coudn’t help but dance. Those shots turned out to be the best of the entire morning. This leads me to my Twitter of the day – The best gift you can give to the world is YOU – your authentic self. We are waiting for you, we need you. You are magnificent, awesome, talented. God made you to be happy, successful, fulfilled. He’s waiting and ready to help you do that! Don’t hold yourself beautiful self back – always be you and let it flow!
