Baby Steps to a Big Goal

“Confront the difficult when it is still easy; accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.” Tao Te Ching
Yesterday I made a took a small step(well maybe not so small). I called the offices of my all time favorite screen writer James L. Brooks. He know him he’s the guy (genius) that wrote Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News (fav), As Good as it Gets to name a few. I’m not going to lie I was more than a little nervous calling – this is James Brooks – why not start at the top! You see I’m planning a trip to the LA area soon and I thought hey I’d like to meet with Mr. Brooks – pick his brain, etc. – there’s gotta be a price on that, and frankly I’m willing to pay it! Well according to his assistant there is not. And you know that’s okay. I’m psyched he’s still working so much, that’s more of his work we’ll all get to enjoy. I know I have an awesome project that needs to be seen and will be loved. My amazing mentor (Shelley Riutta) mentioned this am that “The energy you expend and the risk you take always comes back to you.” It may not be in the exact way you initially intended, but it will bring progress. And as Anthony Robbins says “any amount of progress is gold.”
Believe in yourself and take action. You’ll be amazed by what happens!
What small step will you take on behalf of your mission today?
Peace & Prosperity~

It’s All About the Why
Jan 30th
I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I would often wonder why I wanted to write a movie. I’m kind of hyper. I love to sing and dance. Sitting for hours at a computer wasn’t my idea of fun. Plus, it seemed like such an unusual and unrealistic thing for me to do. I used to think do I want to do it for money? Money buys comfort, but it won’t buy happiness, and doing it for money just isn’t enough. Do I want to write for fame? Well that’s just dumb, because from what I hear fame is empty and fleeting.
I finally just had to give up trying to figure it out and know for sure it was all going to be okay and just do it! Let it flow, as they say. I soon realized that when I listened to that muffled voice inside and gave myself a chunk of time to write I enjoyed it. The time just flew by. I found it very satisfying, even though it frustrated the heck out of me at times. I knew I loved words. There are certain lines in movies that are so powerful. I have some favorite screenwriters that I’ll share in another post, but James Brooks must be mentioned now! You are a genius! Thank you for listening to your Spirit and writing!
When I finally started writing on a regular basis I had the most amazing Spiritual connection. I mean I didn’t even know that kind of connection was possible. This moment was so huge, it gave me my answer right then. That writing is extremely healing for me, and it’s the ultimate way (even more than singing and dancing) that I connect with Spirit. And that my friends is all the reason I need.
Do you have something you want to do that seems well, wacky? Something that gnaws at you, that you almost just wish would go away. In the words of Nike “just do it!” I believe those messages, voices are Divine. Just decide “I’m worth letting myself do this” and take a leap of faith. Then just watch the miracles that will happen in your life. You’ll be amazed, not to mention HAPPY!
I’d like to share a wonderful quote I believe I got from Bob Proctor’s Insight of the Day. “When you have a purpose in life, a vision for what you want to achieve, and you know why you want to achieve it, your work becomes fun and the time you spend working seems to just whiz by.” Clayton J. Moore, Financial Expert
